How your skin ages
Collagen and elastin are the two main components that make up the structure of your skin. Collagen is the group of proteins which make up the structure of your skin giving it firmness and strength, and elastin is another essential protein that supports your skin giving it elasticity - the ability to bounce back when compressed or stretched.
Over time the collagen structure that makes up your skin begins to breaks down. This process occurs naturally but is accelerated by factors including exposure to sunlight (UV), physical stress, and poor sleep.
This breakdown of collagen causes the symptoms associated with aging - our skin slowly reduces in thickness, it sags and becomes less elastic, and fine lines and wrinkles start appearing. As you age your skin is unable to keep up with the job of replacing and repairing these damaged structures, and the rate at which your skin produces new collagen and elastin also slows down, compounding the effects.
How anti-aging treatments work
Anti-aging treatments work to reverse these symptoms by causing your skin to actively produce new collagen and elastin - a process called neocollagenesis - and by re-structuring the existing collagen which hardens and becomes malformed over time. Neocollagenesis takes place by signalling the fibroblasts in your skin to produce new collagen and replace damaged collagen, either through applying controlled damage to the dermis (the primary, thick layer of your skin) or through targeted heating. Broadly these types of treatments are referred to as Collagen Induction Therapies.
While the underlying processes these types of treatments trigger in your skin are the same, the way in which they achieve this result varies greatly. Examples of Collagen Induction Therapies include Laser and Intense Pulsed Laser (IPL), Radio Frequency (RF), Needling and Micro-Needling. Each type of therapy has distinct advantages, contraindications and levels of efficacy in treating different skin aging symptoms.

Dermapen 4
The Dermapen 4 TM micro-needling treatment is very unlike traditional rollers and manual needling treatments which cause unwanted damage to the epidermis (the top layer of your skin).
The Dermapen 4 TM glides across your skin creating millions of micro-channels at depths specifically selected based on the area treated and the skin concern it is addressing. These micro-channels dramatically reduce unwanted damage to the epidermis and cause your body to naturally respond and launch processes to repair the controlled physical damage created.
In addition to treating symptoms related to aging (such as fine lines and wrinkles) the Dermapen 4 also improves your skin's texture and can reduce the appearance of scars, acne scars, sun-spots and pigmentation, enlarged pores and stretch marks.
The Dermapen 4 provides a finely controlled and targeted treatment down to a quarter of a millimetre which dramatically reduces your post-treatment downtime, removes the need for topical anaesthetic and maximises results. Post-treatment you may notice redness in the areas treated which completely clears within 2 - 5 days, as such this treatment is not recommended immediately before a significant event.

Pellevè
Pellevé is relaxing treatment which uses radio-frequency energy to gradually and deeply heat the dermis.
This controlled application of heat deep into the skin causes collagen to contract and re-form, and triggers the production of new collagen and elastin firming, smoothing, plumping and lifting reducing the appearance of lines.
The natural healing and repair response produces new collagen and elastin for 6 to 12 months post-treatment continually building and strengthening your skin.
The Pellevè treatment is non-ablative, meaning it does not penetrate or damage the surface of your skin like IPL, Laser and Needling treatments.
Non-Invasive, Painless and No Downtime
The Pellevé rejuvenation is performed with a specialised hand-held device that is gently moved across your skin applying RF energy feeling much like a warm massage. As the treatment is non-ablative there is no post-treatment care or downtime required - you'll leave feeling a warm glow.
While the Pellevè treatment improves all areas of skin the best results are observed with crows feet, nasolabial folds (from the corner of your mouth to your nose), jowls and skin laxity of the neck.
For the best outcomes a series of 3 to 4 Pellevé treatments are initially performed four weeks apart. Full results are observed between six and nine months after your first treatment. After this first series of treatments, follow-up treatments can be performed each 3 to 9 months afterwards as desired.
